Meditation for Presence

Meditation can make us more present

The goal of meditation, as I see it, is presence. Meditation doesn’t have to aspire or attain to some lofty conceptualization of a higher spiritual state. What it can do is provide a grace and ease that naturally arise from letting go of past and future time. This frees us to embrace a personal pragmatism that manifests optimally when we are present. Meditation brings us to the state of mind of a major league batter – relaxed, focused, and ready to seize the moment. And that’s helpful since life throws a lot of knuckleballs.
